Korean based electronic giants Samsung has officially announced the roll out of long awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update for its mega-popular Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. The ICS update for Galaxy S II is currently been rolled out in European countries including Hungary, Poland, Sweden, and Korea today, while the rest of the world will be getting the update gradually in the nearest future.
Ice Cream Sandwich after Honeycomb is the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, featuring some exciting new features and tweaks.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be served to Galaxy S II users in the European countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea today and gradually roll out to other markets,” Samsung states on its official Facebook page.
In their official statement the company also reported that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for GALAXY Note, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow soon.
Beside the Ice Cream Sandwich update, Samsung has also announced to offer Gingerbread upgrade for Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7-inch, Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy S SCL (Super Clear LCD) and Galaxy W which will begin at the end of this month. The software update is reported to come with features like Face Unlock, Snapshot, and Photo Editor etc.
Apart from the above news, also there are rumors that Samsung is preparing the launch of it’s new Samsung Galaxy S III in April. It is assumed that the company will launch a huge marketing campaign in UK, because of the London Olympic Games.
