iPad 3 And 8GB iPad 2 To Be Released Next Week?

Everyone is waiting for the Apple next week. Apple will make public the new iPad 3. But for those who can’t afford a new iPad 3, Apple might have a surprise. There are some speculations that they will reveal an iPad 2 with less storage as the previous version. This iPad 2 will be 8 GB, half the size of storage of the “cheaper” iPad 2.

Another rumor is that Apple was planning to low the price of the iPad 2 by $100 after the launch of the iPad 3. This new model is presumed to have a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536 pixel display or retina display, a quad-core A6 processor, embedded 4G LTE and a slightly thicker case, among other things like a new OS version.

There were rumors about Apple creating a smallest iPad, 7.85 inches instead of 9.50 inches to compete to the Amazon Kindle Fire, but Apple has sold about 43.1 million of iPads in 2011 and Amazon only sold 3.9 million of Kindle Fire.  Apple doesn’t really need do compete with them as they are making hundreds of dollars per iPad.

Steve Jobs made pretty clear in 2010 that he didn’t like the 7 inches tablets, he said: “7-inch tablets are tweeners: too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with the iPad,” “These are among the reasons that the current crop of 7-inch tablets are going to be DOA — dead on arrival.”

But a cheaper version of the iPad 2 is a good idea, because it will open the niche for Apple.

On the second report that DigiTimes released as true that: an 8GB iPad 2 to go along with the iPad 3. In addition to iPad 3, Apple is also expected to unveil an 8GB iPad 2, allowing the tablet PC series to cover different segments and to defend against Windows 8-based tablet PCs, the sources noted.

We can hardly wait for next week Apple’s event.
