May 21, 2013
new kinect

On Tuesday afternoon, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) unveiled Xbox One, their third generation game console. The company also just announced that the new console/entertainment system will also come with the next generation of Kinect, which will be used to turn on the entire unit as well as switch between games, internet browsing, and similar activites. All a user has to say is, “Xbox on” to power up the new console. And that’s not all, the Kinect system will automatically recognize the user and sign them in—all part of the hands-free experience. If you want to get to a certain feature, simply say “go to(feature)” to get to that feature. Alternatively, you could also move your hands to make particular gestures as the camera watches and grab items on the screen and moves them side by side. For those who would like to chat with friends in the comfort of their living room, the new Kinect camera allows users to chat with Skype. The New Kinect Camera: The new Kinect camera is impressively advanced with a wide-angle 1080p HD depth camera that captures RGB color video at 30 frames per second. Apple Inc. (AAPL) Is The World’s Most Valuable Brand [REPORT]

May 21, 2013
Apple

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) still reigns supreme according to the annual BrandZ report. Millward Brown Optimor released this year’s report on Tuesday morning. He also noted that the iPhone maker has increased their value in terms of money from last year’s $183 billion to $185 billion. This is an impressive feat according to those who believe Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is losing ground to the likes of Google and Samsung. Nick Cooper (Millward Brown Optimor’s managing director) explained, “Despite a more competitive marketplace and other challengers nipping at its heels, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s ability to maintain its no.1 position demonstrates the value that having a strong brand brings to business. People still love the brand regardless of its stock price.” Apple Inc. (AAPL) Stocks Rose Interesting enough, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s stock only rose by one percent this year. Compared to 19 percent last year and 84 percent the year before that, it may be a little bit worrisome, especially since some of their biggest competitors outscored them in stock growth this year. Despite landing in second place, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has grown five percent at 113 billion and AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) grew 10 percent to 75 billion. China Mobile jumped 18 percent to 55 billion.

iPad 5 Production To Begin In July [REPORT]

May 20, 2013
Apple ipad

It won’t be long before the production stage for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s fifth generation iPad begins. DigiTimes reported on Monday that the iPad is close to production. Unfortunately, DigiTimes isn’t always the most accurate source for rumors and the fact they received their information from an unnamed source from a Taiwan supply chain which only sometimes is a reliable source. Display Of iPad 5 The report speculates,”The display of the new iPad, which will hit market shelves as early as September, will still be a 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, the same as the one used in the 4th-generation model, except that the new display is built on a glass substrate of 0.2mm, thinner than the 0.25mm one for the 4th-generation device, the sources said, adding the new table will has a narrow bezel.” iPad 5 Release Interesting enough, DigiTimes reports that the iPad 5 should be available by September. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) tends to release new products during the latter part of the year so this rumor could be a real possibility. The rumor also adds that the device will feature a thinner glass substrate which will make this tablet thinner going from 0.25millimeters to 0.2 millimeters. It could also

Microsoft To Launch New Xbox On Tuesday

May 20, 2013
Microsoft new xbox

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is ready to unveil the next generation of gaming devices. It’s been about eight years since the tech giant released the second Xbox, so there is a lot of expectations riding on their shoulders. The Xbox has become so much more than just a gaming device as it allows users to connect to the internet, watch movies, listen to music, interact on social media apps, and more. It’s a safe assumption to make that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will take the whole Xbox experience to a whole other level. Since it’s last generation release back in 2005, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has reinvented the Xbox with Kinect, a motion sensor accessory that uses motion to play the game. It’s similar to the original Nintendo Wii game console which also used a motion sensor to play the game. The only difference there was Wii required Wii-motes (remote controls) to actually play the game. To stay ahead of the game, it’s likely that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will put a major focus on the entertainment and apps for the device. Tom Hoggins from The Telegraph recently gave a few ideas on what we might expect from the upcoming Xbox, mentioning the leaked specs which

Apple Testing 1.5-inch OLED Display For iWatch [REPORT]

May 20, 2013
iWatch

The rumored Apple’s iWatch has everyone buzzing with speculation. On Monday, Mackotora highlighted several reports that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was working on 1.5 inch OLED displays for the iWatch. These reports initially came from Taiwan newspaper Economic Daily News. The first report claimed that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently in the testing phase of organic light emitting diode displays. The tech giant reportedly tested 1.8 inch panels but decided to go with the smaller 1.5 inch displays instead. The report also claims that the iPhone 5 manufacturer is looking into 1.5 inch touchscreens from RiTdisplay that features one glass touch solution touch sensors. There have been numerous rumors for years that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) wants to use OLED screens but so far the company has yet to build products with it. The second report says that Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) has received orders for the iWatch but the first round of production will be no more than one thousand units. This would make it a small trial production. Despite all the hype behind the purported iWatch, only 19 percent of consumers would be interested in purchasing the tech watch. However, this number exceeds the percentage rate of consumers who were reportedly

iOS 7: What Does It Need To Be Great

May 17, 2013
Apple iOS 7

There is a lot of pressure riding on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as they design their next generation mobile operating system iOS. There are also a lot of opinions and ideas on what iOS 7 should have. There were two recent videos shared that offer some insight as to what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should do to improve their phone. Although none of the ideas are too exciting, the suggestions would make for a simpler experience. One video titled iOS 7 Concept  shares ideas from a designer named Frederco Bianco, and it shows several interesting update ideas. Some new feature changes include a quick reply lock screen, quick reply notifications, quick settings, and quick reply alerts. Bianco’s dream iOS 7 would also take a cue from Android by adding useful widgets like a music widget, a weather widget, a calendar widget, and two app store widgets. The iOS 7 would also feature a shelf where you could download files and documents. From there, you could read them through Adobe Acrobat reader or iBooks. If you wanted to share the files, you could email or print them. Then there are the mission control features which would allow users to open up and use multiple

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Devices Receive Pentagon Clearance

May 17, 2013
Apple Logo

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products are now cleared and ready to be used by the U.S. Military. The Defense Department made a statement on Friday claiming they approved the use of select Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products running on iOS 6. The recent decision will likely cause a larger battle between competition from BlackBerry and Android. Earlier this month, the Pentagon approved of BlackBerry devices such as BlackBerry 10 phones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet as well as Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) devices. For awhile, the Pentagon relied on BlackBerry devices which frequently received federal certifications to help protect sensitive data on the devices. Apple Inc. (AAPL) Device Status On Military Networks Currently, the defense department has over 600,000 devices including 8,700 Android devices, 470,000 BlackBerry devices, and 41,000 Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices. However, many of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Android devices are not connected to the military networks unless it’s for testing. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Vice President Tim Wagner explained that his company worked with the United States National Security Agency to make a more secure version of the Android operating system, complete with multiple layers of hardware and software protection. The Galaxy Samsung S4 is the first smartphone to be

Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPad Mini Shipments May Decline [REPORT]

May 17, 2013
ipad mini

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be gearing up for a rough period. DigiTimes reported on Friday that according to AU Optronics, (a company that makes supply panels specifically for the iPad Mini) will ship only 2.5 million to 2.8 million units during the second quarter of the calendar. This number is down from the 4 million they shipped first quarter. The report states, “AUO’s drop in the second quarter will also come as overall shipments for the iPad mini are expected to drop around 20-30 percent on quarter to around 10 million units largely due to the time period traditionally being a slow purchasing period for consumers. The remaining seven million panels for the device are expected to come from LG Display, said the sources.” It seems that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is slowing down on the production of the iPad Mini as consumers generally don’t buy electronics or gadgets during the summer season. It’s also possible that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be slowing down on the iPad Mini for anticipation for the next generation of the iPad Mini. Despite the expected slow down, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should still fare well. DigiTimes sources predict they will ship 10 million iPad Mini tablets. Interesting enough, the

The App Store sent a tweet shortly after acknowledging that someone hit the mark. Fifty of those who downloaded apps right after Ashmore will each receive a $500 App Store gift card. Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said, ““Apple would like to thank our incredible customers and developers for topping 50 billion apps downloaded. The App Store completely transformed how people use their mobile devices and created a thriving app ecosystem that has paid out over nine billion dollars to developers.
