TikTok is a new social media app that has teenagers and the younger generation in particular, extremely hyped. Now, its parent company announced that its first smartphone is coming out, and apparently, the company plans to target the same audience. TikTok’s new phone already has its features revealed, and it’s interesting that they greatly coincide with current predictions for next year’s Apple iPhone 12.
TikTok’s first phone is called Smartisan Nut Pro 3, and although that’s a strange name, there’s a reason why it’s called that. As explained by TechRadar, the parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, made an acquisition of a Chinese smartphone manufacturer Smartisan, because it wants to break the ice in the smartphone industry. The Nut Pro 3 is the first phone the company will release, but with good features hopefully, it won’t be the last. It is expected to be a premium device based on its specs, and could be extremely popular among the younger generations.
It took years for various smartphone manufacturers to move from one camera lens to two, and then to three, and sometimes to four. TikTok’s first phone will be straight up equipped with four rear cameras, which is even more compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, according to TecheBlog. It will have a 48MP main camera, 13 MP ultra-wide angle camera, 8MP telephoto camera for zoomed-in shots, as well as the 5 MP macro camera which is great for close-up pictures. The front side of the phone is equipped with a 20MP selfie camera.
The phone will use various post-processing algorithms which will make the photos look more visually appealing, according to ByteDance. The algorithm will also be responsible for reducing the ultra-wide camera distortion which is often found in smartphone cameras.
It’s also worth noting that The Nut Pro 3 will feature a flat, sandwich-like rear design, which is different compared to other phones in the competition. However, it’s worth noting that according to Ming Chi Kuo (as per MacRumors) the next year’s iPhone 12 will feature a “back from the future” design with the next year’s model featuring the same flat-like design, as seen on iPhone 4 years ago, although it’s unclear whether Apple plans to stay on 3 rear cameras like on its iPhone 12 Pro Max, or also migrate to the advanced four-lens camera system.
As to other features, TikTok’s first phone will ship with 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It’ll be powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ chipset with 3 storage configurations – 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and the most high-end version which runs at 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. With that amount of RAM it can outperform a laptop.
