You must know by now that Apple has killed iTunes in macOS Catalina. However, if you don’t know how to listen to music on macOS now, there is no need to worry. Apple has broken up iTunes into three separate apps: Music, Podcast and Apple TV. This means you can now use the new Music app to listen to music on macOS. If you don’t know how to use the new Music app, then we have detailed everything you need to know.

How to use the new Music app

As we said above, Apple has made all the necessary arrangements to move you from iTunes to the new Music app. Any music that you purchased via iTunes or imported from elsewhere in iTunes will be moved to the new Apple Music app. Similarly, any playlists you created in iTunes will be moved to the new app. However, you will still have to buy music through the iTunes Store. Additionally, iTunes gift cards and credit will work as before.

  2. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted to sign in to the iTunes Store.
  3. Click the “Get Started listening” button. The new Music app will now pull your iTunes playlists, including the ones that iTunes made for you.
  4. If your music is not showing up and you have already synced your music library with Apple Music or iTunes Match, then select the “Show all music” button, which is at the top. Alternatively, you can select the “All Music” option from the View menu to get your songs.
