Outlook Mail Down? You’re Not Alone [UPDATED]

Updated on

Outlook Mail appears to be back up and running for those who reported the outage.

The latest: Based on the live outage map from Down Detector, it looks like Outlook Mail is down for users on the eastern seaboard of the United States, in Brazil and in northern Europe, although our staffers in South Asia are reporting problems too.  User reports on Down Detector suggest the outage could even be global, with reports coming in from many parts of the world other than what the map shows. Twitter is also starting to fill up with complaints from Hotmail/ Outlook users.

Affected users say when they try to log into their Microsoft account, they are forced to sign in again and not given access to their account. Several users say their phone’s app is working, but they aren’t able to access it via the web browser on their PC or laptop. Those who are having problems are reporting issues on multiple browsers, including Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Microsoft has yet to acknowledge any problems with Outlook Mail or any of its other services.

Previously:

Outlook Mail is down for many users around the globe. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Microsoft is aware of the problem because the company hasn’t acknowledged it yet. The Office 365 Dashboard indicates that Outlook.com is working just fine.

At this time, it looks like the desktop version of Outlook Mail is down, but the iPhone app appears to be working for at least some affected users.
