Note 10 Pro Leak Indicates 19:9 Aspect Ratio

Updated on

A new Note 10 Pro leak suggests the handset will have an aspect ratio of 19:9 just like the Galaxy S10 line-up. This would make sense since the Note line typically takes the best of the year’s Galaxy S model and then raises the bar just a bit more on a few other features.

Benchmark test supplies evidence for Note 10 Pro leak

The Dutch-language site MobielKopen spotted the results of an HTML 5 test for a Samsung handset with the model name SM-N976V. The resolution was listed as 412 x 869, which is obviously much smaller than the actual resolution. Multiple tech blogs have noted that blowing those numbers up to their actual sizes translates to an actual resolution of 1440 x 3040p, which would give the handset an aspect ratio of 19:9.

That’s an increase from the 18.5:9 ratio in the Galaxy Note 9. The extra screen space can be achieved by moving the front-facing camera under the display, which is a rumor we have been hearing recently. However, the rumor also suggested we wouldn’t see it until the Galaxy S11 next year. Samsung will have quite a challenge in executing this, but the HTML 5 test results appear to suggest that the company has managed to move the camera under the screen. We would expect to see some type of cut-out, but the Galaxy S11 rumor suggested a truly all-screen face.

According to Phone Arena, the SM-N976V model number has been rumored to be assigned to the Galaxy Note 10 Pro 5G model destined for the Verizon Wireless network. Other Note 10 Pro leaks have suggested that the phone will have a massive 6.75-inch display, which would make sense with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smaller Note 10 is expected to have a 6.28-inch display.

Other rumors about the Note 10 and 10 Pro

We’ve also been hearing other rumors about the Note 10 line-up. Several reports have suggested there will be a standard Note 10, a larger Note 10 Pro, and 5G variants of each of the two main models. We’ve been hearing that the Note 10 line-up could move much closer to a button-less future.

The battery in the Pro model is expected to be a massive 4,500 mAh, and it could support much faster charging, possibly even up to 50W charging. Of course, at this point, every Galaxy Note 10 Pro leak we hear should be taken with a grain of salt. We expect both Note 10 phones to be unveiled in August, so we won’t know anything official until then.
