After months of leaks and speculations, Google will finally take the wraps off the new Pixel phones and more products on Tuesday. The Google Pixel 3 event is scheduled for Tuesday and kicks off at 11 a.m. Eastern. How to watch the Google Pixel 3 event
The Google Pixel 3 event is invite-only, so if you don’t have an invitation, you can’t be there in person but you can watch the live stream. As always, the search giant will live-stream the event on its official YouTube channel, Made by Google. The live stream will start at 10:40 a.m. Eastern.
Users are allowed to set a reminder on the video page so they will get a notification when the event starts. The page is decorated in two colors, pink and sand, which may suggest the new colors the Pixel 3 handsets will come in.
If YouTube does not suit you and you are still wondering how to watch the Google Pixel 3 event, there is one other option. Google will also live-stream the event on its Twitter account. On Twitter, you will get the added benefit of live tweets underneath the stream.
Expected specs of the Pixel 3 and 3 XL
The Google Pixel 3 XL will of course be bigger, but the functionality and specifications of the two variants will be the same. Both handsets are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, feature 4 GB of RAM, and come in 64 GB or 128 GB of internal memory.
The bigger variant could come with an iPhone X-like notch, while the smaller one is expected to be notch-free with top and bottom bezels. The Pixel 3 XL could also come with a “chin” or some extra space between the display and the edge of the phone.
The Pixel 3 handsets are expected to feature a single-lens rear camera, unlike the trend of putting more than one lens in the camera on the back. The rear camera could have a 12.2-megapixel lens, while the front-facing camera is expected to have an 8.1-megapixel lens. The camera quality in the last Pixel phones was exceptional, so it will be interesting to see what extras Google will add this time to differentiate the cameras from last year’s models.
The new Pixel handsets are also expected to support wireless charging. It is speculated that Google will announce a wireless charging dock called the Pixel Stand at the Google Pixel 3 event.
What else to expect at the Google Pixel 3 Event
In addition to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, the search giant is expected to announce the Google Home Hub and the next-generation Chromecast with enhanced Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support at the Google Pixel 3 event. The company may also use the event to showcase the Pixelbook 2, Pixel Buds and the rumored Pixel Slate.
The Google Home Hub is expected to be an Amazon Echo-like device that will feature a 7-inch screen and a speaker. Similar to Lenovo’s Smart Display, the Google Home Hub will likely display information on the screen using Google’s personal voice assistant. Amazon revealed the second-generation Echo Show at an event last month.
The Pixel Slate is expected to be a two-in-one Chrome OS tablet with a removable keyboard case. The tablet will likely be compatible with the Pixel Book Pen. Further, the tablet is expected to come in many variants and offer up to 16 GB of RAM and an Intel i7 processor. Google’s Pixel Slate will likely take on Apple’s new iPad Pros, which are expected to be announced some time later this month. The Pixel Slate might feature a fingerprint sensor as well.
As far as the Pixelbook 2, there aren’t many rumors and speculations, but it could be a modest update over the last-gen Pixelbook. Instead of a major overhaul, we are expecting updated specifications like a faster processor and more RAM. There have been talks of a 4K display for the Pixelbook 2, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Google hasn’t updated the Chromecast for several years, so there is a good chance it will launch a new device this time. Recently, a Redditor posted an image of a new Chromecast device he claimed to have bought from a local Best Buy.
As a point of reference for Tuesday’s event, Google announced Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google Home Mini and Home Max, Google Clips, Pixelbuds, Pixelbook, and DayDream View 2 at last year’s Pixel event.
