Huawei Mate 10 Pro Finally Up For Pre-order In US

Updated on

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is now available for preorder in the U.S. despite being ditched by both AT&T and Verizon at the last minute. The device is now available at major retailers and other crowd-shopping sites, which are selling the latest smartphone on discount.

Finally available for preorder

Huawei is touting the Mate 10 Pro as one of the early adaptors of the 5G network. However, a few agencies in the U.S. are not comfortable with the idea fearing it could mean a security threat for the country as Huawei reportedly has links to the Chinese government. The pressure of the U.S. government is reportedly a major reason why AT&T and Verizon decided not to put Mate 10 Pro in their stores.

Following the setbacks, the Chinese company decided to sell the phone via retailers. The handset is now available for preorder with several popular retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, Newegg, and B&H.

Huawei is also offering a few deals on the Mate 10 Pro, which comes with an $800 price tag. Customers would be eligible for a $150 gift card from the retailer on pre-order, while Massdrop is selling the device at $700, notes TheNextWeb. It must be noted that the phone works only on the GSM network.

Apart from the regular Mate 10 Pro, Huawei is also launching the Porsche Design version of the handset on Feb. 18. In terms of functionality, both the regular and Porsche version are almost the same, but the latter is encased in glass and also expands up to 256 GB.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro – a premium offering

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro comes with a 6-inch display, 2160 x 1080 OLED screen, 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels. The smartphone is powered by 4GB RAM with two memory options – 64GB and 128 GB SSD. Huawei has fitted the smartphone with indigenously made Kirin 970 CPU, while it sports a 4000mAh battery.

In addition, the Mate 10 Pro comes with the dual rear facing cameras – 12-megapixel monochrome sensor, and 20-megapixel color sensor. Further, the handset runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and uses USB-C. According to the company, the Mate 10 Pro would be available in Midnight Blue and Titanium Grey while the Mocha Brown variant will be made available soon.

“Featuring the world’s first AI-enhanced processor with a dedicated Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU) in a smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro achieves new breakthroughs in computing capacity to deliver up to 25 times better performance and up to 50 times greater energy efficiency for AI-related tasks,” Huawei said in a press release.

The Chinese company says that they partnered with renowned camera maker Leica to integrate AI capabilities in the camera. As a result, the camera is proficient in taking professional quality photos without altering the camera settings. Further, the vision technology imbibed in the camera automatically selects and adjusts camera settings for taking the best photos possible.

Huawei stated that the Mate 10 Pro has received 42 awards to date from the Global technology media. The handset got the “Best of CES 2018” from Android Police, “Best Smartphone of CES” from TechRadar and “Best Smartphone of 2017” from Android Authority. Android Central even termed the device as Huawei’s “best phone ever.”
