Firefighters responded to a fire at the Clintons’ Chappaqua house this afternoon. According to media reports, the fire broke out in a bedroom of one of the homes on their property in Chappaqua, New York. The local fire department and local police both confirmed the blaze to the media.

Fire reported at Clintons’ Chappaqua house

Firefighters reportedly put the fire out quickly but remained on scene for a time afterward to continue checking for further flames. The extent of the damage from the house fire is still unknown, although video footage from the scene of the fire does not show any extensive damage from the outside.

New Castle Police told CBS that firefighters put the fire out by 3:15 p.m. after being called to the scene at 2:51 p.m. They didn’t have information on whether anyone was home at the time the fire broke out. Police are not releasing any further details on the fire. Officials have not revealed the cause of the blaze or said that they are investigating it. There were no reports of injuries.

More than one home on the property

There are multiple structures on the property, and according to CBS, it wasn’t the main house on the New York property that was involved. The Clintons purchased the smaller house next door to their Chappaqua house in 2016 and transformed the pair of properties into one compound.

Bill and Hillary Clinton have lived in the Chappaqua house for almost 20 years, according to media reports. The historical five-bedroom home was built in 1889, and it’s more than 5,000 square-feet in size. The second house next door which the Clintons bought a little over a year ago has four bedrooms, according to USA Today. They reportedly paid $1.7 million for their Chappaqua house in 1999 and $1.16 million for the property next door.
