Our culture is one that is obsessed with celebrities and pop culture. Every year Google releases data about the top search trends for the year. We’ve crunched the data for 2017 and analyzed who and what people are searching for all across the United States. Using search data over the past year directly from Google, Dana Rebecca Designs compiled a list of the most Googled people which searched for celebrities, musicians, athletes and politicians both for the USA as a whole and by state.
For each category they’ve identified the top 10 as well as the most unusually popular people by state. Unusually popular search trends was calculated by looking at the search volume by state and comparing them to the national search volume average in Google.
Most Googled People In 2017
According to the data the top ten most Googled Celebrities for 2017 in the United States are as following:
- Kim Kardashian
- Kylie Jenner
- Brad Pitt
- Angelina Jolie
- Bella Thorne
- Emma Watson
- Jennifer Aniston
- Kendall Jenner
- Khloe Kardashian
- Scarlett Johansson
It’s probably not a surprise to most to see the Kardashians dominate the top 10 list. Some of the other categories are more surprising.
The top ten most Googled Athletes:
- Conor McGregor
- Lebron James
- Tom Brady
- Stephen Curry
- Kyrie Irving
- OJ Simpson
- Ronda Rousey
- Tiger Woods
- Kevin Durant
- Floyd Mayweather
The sports list has a mix of athletes that are at the top of their respective sports, as well as some older popular athletes.
The list that I think is the most entertaining is the list of top ten musicians by Google search volume:
- Ariana Grande
- Lady Gaga
- Selena Gomez
- Beyonce
- Justin Bieber
- Taylor Swift
- Nicki MInaj
- Rihanna
- Kanye West
- Mariah Carey
Last but not least is the list of the most Googled politicians. Why the top five on the list are who you would expect, the bottom half of the list provides a few surprises.
