China To Be Next Superpower, Says Blind Mystic Who Predicted 9/11, ISIS, Brexit

Updated on

Baba Vanga, the so called “Blind Mystic” has long been a sensation in the Balkans and Slavic world for her seemingly accurate predictions. Although the baba, or grandmother, died in Bulgaria 1996, the Internet has resuscitated her legacy. The mystic lost her vision at age 12, saw two world wars, the rise and fall of Soviet communism, and the dissolution of Yugoslavia, where she was born and lived out her days.

As the new year dawns, spiritualists and conspiracy theorists alike have begun reexamining her predictions for clues as to what this year could bring, with her predictions even being covered by major news outlets, most notably that China will soon eclipse the US as the next superpower. Her sudden fame in the Western world raises the question, “ Are the times really so unstable and the future so ambiguous that people are turning to mysticism for answers?”

Her Prophecies

The “Nostradamus from the Balkans” is said to have predicted major events all the way up to the 51st century, when she believed the world will end. LIke Nostradamus, the 16th century French physician and mystic, Baba Vanga’s prophecies are told in a poetic, abstract format, leaving much room for interpretation, while intriguing clues inspire the imagination.

Believers in the blind mystic argue that she accurately predicted the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Baba Vanga allegedly said, “Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds. The wolves will be howling in a bush, and innocent blood will be gushing.”

Baba Vanga is also said to have predicted that 2016 would see the end of Europe as we know it. While many interpreted this as a prediction of Brexit, Baba Vanga actually said that Europe would see chemical warfare and large wastelands devoid of human life. Although many alarmist reacted to Brexit as though it would cause such a bloody end, the continent has hardly seen chemical war or an enormous loss of life as a result.

In a related prediction, Baba Vanga is believed to have said that a war would begin in Syria which would see an invasion of Europe by Muslim forces that would decimate the continent. Although thousands have already died in ISIS related terror attacks on the continent and beyond, ISIS seems to be on the ropes in the Middle East and there is no sign that Muslim forces will conquer Rome as she predicted.

Another notable prediction is that by 2072 a classless communist society will rule the entire world, something that hardly seems possible given the failures of the Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela, and North Korea, as well as the burgeoning nationalist, populist, and liberal nationalist movements.

Baba Vanga has also made some pretty far out their prophecies, much to the joy of internet conspiracy theorists and UFO hunters. According to the Bulgarian mystic, Hungarians will contact human like species on other planets in less than 200 years, arguing that many aliens already live on earth.

2018 and Beyond

In addition to serving as a prophetess, Baba Vanga is said to have been a skilled herbalist, making hundreds of herbal cures for patients. As a result, many of her predictions center around “Mother Earth.” Baba Vanga predicted that by 2020 trains will be powered by solar energy and oil extraction will stop. Welcome news for environmentalist, but perhaps not for the world economy. With the new Republican tax bill opening up ANWR for drilling, this prediction doesn’t seems feasible in the next two years.

To that note, Baba Vanga believed in 2018 scientists would begin developing a new energy source from space, specifically from Venus. There are no current plans to send a mission to the planet, however the Parker Solar Probe is meant to pass by Venus this year, utilizing the planets gravitational pull to orbit the Sun.

A prediction that has been unsettling to Americans, is that this year will see the rise of a new super power that overtakes the US. The next superpower, which many believe to be China, is said to eclipse the US this year. Those eager to believe the prophecy point out that by 2025 the US’ contribution to the world economy is expected to shrink from 16.7 percent to 14.9 percent, according to analysis by Forbes. Meanwhile, China’s contribution is on the rise. In 1970, China contributed 4.1 percent, which grew to 15.6 percent in 2015. According to the World Bank, the global economy is expected to see a GDP growth rate of 2.8 percent between 2017-2019. 35.2% of this growth is projected as coming from China, while experts put the US’ contribution at 17.9 percent. Could this indicate that China is the next superpower?

As tensions between the US and North Korea increase, and regional archenemies Saudi Arabia and Iran become further embroiled in their proxy war in Yemen, for many, including Pope Francis, World War III is practically upon us. Baba Vanga disagreed saying, “There won’t be a third world war, but if you continue polluting nature like that, it will destroy us. Mother Nature is God and it won’t tolerate our impact on it.” Other accounts of Baba Vanga’s prophecies report that she predicted World War III would come to Europe by 2010.

Additionally, Baba Vanga predicted that if we continue abusing the earth, plants and animals we rely on will begin to disappear, beginning with bees and a few other plants. The disappearance of bees, called colony collapse, is something we have already begun to see, but many scientists, farmers, environmentalists, and even corporations have dedicated themselves to turning this phenomenon around.

Could it Happen?

Many of the details that people have used to justify Baba Vanga’s prophecies never actually came from her mouth. Rather, people are filling in the gaps in her prophecies with their own opinions and facts. This is the very definition of confirmation bias and is why interpreting prophecies and conspiracy theories is such an appealing hobby for some.

More bad news for those who want to believe, Baba Vanga was only semi-literate, so the predictions that we have access to were recorded by various followers and visitors, not by her own hand. Worse, the prophecies were no doubt originally heard in Bulgarian, then later translated into countless other languages and disseminated via email chains. Who knows what could have been lost (or added) in translation.

That being said her predictions of environmental disaster, China as the next superpower, and a growing dependence on solar energy may be worth paying attention to.

Despite the powers of the Internet, primary sources regarding Baba Vanga’s prophecies are not to be found. Internet research will lead you to a dead end of British tabloids offering no sources, the fertile soil of fake news.
