Kodi is excited and at the same time sad to announce the release of Kodi 17.6 Krypton. But why sad? The company said it’s because it will be the last release of the v17 Krypton series. The firm is moving toward the v18 series known as Leia. In fact, for about a year, Kodi developers have been working on v18 and have been importing all the fixes they deem safe from the v17 series. With that said, there is an end to all good things, and for the v17 series, that moment is now with Kodi 17.6 Krypton.
Kodi 17.6 Krypton takes things a notch higher
From the developer’s point of view, Krypton has been a superb release, and the team has spent a lot of time enhancing it since its release in February. In addition, it has been a series in which they did things differently and kept releasing better versions with minor changes whenever they could. For consumers, the result has been improved product quality without extra cost.
Kodi 17.6 Krypton comes on the back of multiple Nightly and RC seeds, and with a model that offers max stability to the platform, it really rubber-stamps what the firm is all about. Kodi 17.6 Krypton doesn’t include any new feature, only superb bug fixes for:
- Updating standard scrapers to the latest model available on release
- Fixing possible crash in controller dialog
- Fixing crash when peripheral joystick add-on is disabled
- Fixing possible connection problems with internal web server
While there is little to be excited about, this version is quite a hit because it will be the last release of the v17 series.

As always, users can find the official model on the firm’s download page. From there, click on the platform of your choice and choose Kodi 17.6. You can install this version on top of the previous version without doing a cleanup or reinstall, as it includes a total migration if need be. All your installed skin or add-ons should continue to work.
