Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Releases On Wednesday

Updated on

It’s an exciting time to be a Marvel fan. With the recent success of IPs like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok, the comic book company has been hitting it out of the park with their new movies. Perhaps most anticipated out of all of Marvel’s recent and impending releases, however, is the new Avengers film. In a tweet from the official Marvel account, it appears that the Avengers: Infinity War trailer will release tomorrow.

A cartoon countdown from directors Joe and Anthony Russo seemed to suggest that the trailer would release on Thursday, but the company has surprised fans with an earlier release. Marvel has also released a teaser that looks back on the journey of each Avenger leading up to this action-packed sequel.

The movie is set four years after the events in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and follows the team of Avengers after their falling out in Captain America: Civil War. The Avengers join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to battle Thanos, a villain who is collecting power in order to enforce his will on all reality.

This crossover with two of Marvel’s most popular IPs is sure to be a box office hit. Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise in the box office; as a very small comic series without a serious following, it says a lot about the company’s ability to translate their comics to film. The first film exceeded expectations, and the sequel was incredibly successful — drawing in huge crowds with many repeat viewers. Since their inception back in back in 1963, the Avengers has been one of Marvel’s strongest comics — and the critical and public reception of the recently released films is a testament to that fact. Merging these two franchises together is a smart decision both in narrative and business sense, and is sure to appeal to the Marvel fanatic and casual fan alike.

The Avengers: Infinity War trailer will be our first real look at what we can expect from the upcoming movie. The release date is set for May of next year, so this sneak peak should both create excitement and tide fans over as they wait another six months to finally experience this collaboration between two incredibly beloved superhero teams. Filming concluded in July of this year, so it’s very likely that the movie will release as scheduled.

The story will be split over two movies, and the Avengers: Infinity War trailer releasing tomorrow will cover only the first half. The film title originally included “Part 1”, but was later changed to just “Infinity War” with concerns that fans might feel that the movie isn’t a complete experience in and of itself. Despite the name change, it’s still true that this epic collaboration will be spread over two separate films, with the second movie releasing around a year later.

Avengers: Infinity War releases in the United Kingdom on April 27, 2018, and in the United States on May 4, 2018 in IMAX and 3D. Part 2 of the series is scheduled for May 3, 2019.
