The company made an announcement about the Samsung Gear Sport and Gear IconX release date and price, while preorders start on October 13.
Back in August, we heard about Samsung announcing the Gear Sport for the first time. The smartwatch is intended towards sports enthusiasts, but that doesn’t mean it’s restricted from everyone else. The preorders for the Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch start today, Oct. 13, while the smartwatch will be available for customers around the world on Oct. 27. You can get the Gear Sport on Amazon, Best Buy, Macy’s, U.S. Cellular, and of course Samsung.com.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung’s sports watch will be available in blue and black colors and priced at $299.99.
The second product Samsung announced is the second-generation Gear IconX earbuds. They are also called Gear IconX 2018. They are the second product starting with preorders on Oct. 13. Just like the Gear Sport, Icon X 2018 will be launched worldwide on Oct. 27 and be ready for purchase. The earbuds will be available in black, gray, and pink and will cost $199.99.
Let’s take a look at some of their features.
The Gear Sport sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED display. What makes it an actual gadget for athletes is that it has a built-in GPS and you will be able to dive with it, as it is waterproof up to 50 meters. More importantly, the band lays naturally on your wrist which enables it to track time while you are swimming and measure your heart rate in the process. (We hope that it is more accurate than other smartwatches and doesn’t require a wearable heart-rate monitor.)
Given the features, we assume that the Gear Sport is a truly durable smartwatch, mainly because Samsung claims it is a “military-grade” durable, smartwatch. Samsung added 4GB of internal memory for users who want to use Spotify’s offline mode to listen to music. It doesn’t hurt to mention that the gadget is eligible for either Android or iOS users, especially those who are not fond of Apple Smart Watch Series 3. The watch will effortlessly sync with an iPhone that supports Bluetooth technology. The only drawback is that the watch doesn’t have a cellular connection, unlike Apple’s smartwatch. Thus, users won’t be able to be making calls.

On the other hand, Gear IconX 2018 features wireless technology once again and longer battery life compared to their predecessor. Samsung said that if you are streaming music, you will be able to listen for five hours, or for seven hours if you are simply listening to the music. They have 4GB of storage and, of course, feature Bluetooth technology in order to make calling possible.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, or Note 8, you will be able to control your music via Bixby. The IconX also features a virtual running coach which will track your running activities.
