How The Google Pixel 2 Leaked Specs Stack Up Against The iPhone X

Updated on

If these Google Pixel 2 leaked specs are accurate, the iPhone X will face some worthy competition.

We still don’t know when the Google Pixel 2 will officially come out, but we are looking forward to Google’s next press event, where we expect to finally learn the Pixel 2’s specs, design and, more importantly, release date. After the images of the Google Pixel 2 XL were leaked just one week before Google’s official press event, more leaks are coming to the surface.

Almost the entire spec sheet for the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL has reportedly leaked. The news emerged initially from Android Authority. Their staff has reportedly gotten a document which contains the Google Pixel 2 leaked specs. They said they confirmed it with a source involved in the plans for the Google Pixel 2.

In this article, we will compare the Google Pixel 2 leaked specs with the official specs for the iPhone X. Currently, the iPhone X is the strongest and most-anticipated smartphone, and it’s sated to come out on November 3. Furthermore, demand for the iPhone X is so high that it nearly makes the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus unwanted, and some analysts expect that pre-orders will reach 50 million.

The Google Pixel 2’s and Pixel 2XL’s design and specs need to be really good to oppose Apple’s new flagship smartphone. Read below to see whether the Google Pixel 2 leaked specs can live up to the challenge.

The report says the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 high-end chipset. The iPhone X will have Apple’s A11 Bionic processor with 64-bit architecture. The same chipset is featured in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, where it has proven to be quite useful despite the HD Retina displays and top-end camera.

Apple’s iPhone X features 3 GB of RAM, but unfortunately, the Google Pixel 2 leaked specs don’t reveal the amount of RAM these two smartphones are going to be equipped with. Still, it is suspected that it will be 2 GB or/and 3 GB. The iPhone X also comes with either 64 GB or  256 GB of internal storage, which is by far more than the Google Pixel 2 (64GB) and Google Pixel 2 XL (128 GB) have to offer.

The iPhone ditched the headphone jack with last year’s model, the iPhone 7, and the iPhone X won’t have one either. Google decided to follow this step by ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack. Still, both of this year’s phones will reportedly come with high-end stereo speakers with built-in microphones.

Both the iPhone X and Google’s upcoming flagship smartphones, the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL, will feature IP67 dust and water resistance protection. That being said, both phones are apparently suitable for being taken to the beach and soaked in the ocean. All the phones will reportedly feature Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection.

The documentation didn’t reveal whether the Google Pixel 2 smartphones will come with a dual-lens camera, as the case is with the iPhone X. It is expected that the Google Pixel 2 phones won’t follow their competition regarding the dual-lens camera. However, the cameras will still likely feature Google Imaging Chip accompanied with optical image stabilization.

Both phones will likely be significantly different from their predecessors in design and battery size. The Google Pixel 2 XL will reportedly sport a 3,50mAh battery, while the ordinary Pixel 2 is expected to house a 2,700mAh battery. Let’s hope that the battery life of both phones is longer, as suspected. The iPhone X battery is even smaller at 2,675mAh. Still, in its technical documentation, Apple promised that the iPhone X’s battery will last two hours longer than the battery in the iPhone 7 Plus.

It is suspected that the Google Pixel 2 will reveal a new QHD curved display design. The Google Pixel 2 leaked specs do not explain what is meant by “curved,” but it is presumed that it means curved edges. It is also believed that the Google Pixel 2 phones will follow the example of other great smartphones by removing as much of the bezel as possible. The iPhone X will feature a Super Retina display and a near-bezel-less screen. The phone features a glass structure too for the fast-charging feature and even wireless charging.

It is still not officially confirmed whether the Google Pixel 2 smartphones will feature any of functions mentioned above. Still, it would be really surprising if they did. If these Google Pixel 2 leaked specs are legit, there is no doubt that the Google Pixel 2 phones will be able to hold their own against the iPhone X. We will learn more about the phones on October 4 at Google’s press event.
