The Nokia 2 might be launched as early as November, according to an individual who manages the official Nokia Myanmar Facebook Page. According to Android Headlines, the Nokia Myanmar division told a local fan that the handset might launch sometime in November and will first be offered in the Southeast Asian country.
Rumors and reports about the Nokia 2 have been buzzing for quite some time now with reports about the rumored specifications and probable form factor. Just a few days ago, there were leaked images showing the supposed specifications of the phone and a probable launch date in October. However, the recent report about the dialogue with the Nokia Myanmar division hints that the phone might actually not be released until November.
So far, rumors suggest that the Nokia 2 might have a 5-inch HD 720p screen, be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC and have a 4000mAh battery. Said to be encased in a polycarbonate body, the handset will reported support 4G VoLTE. On the pricing front, being an entry-level phone, the Nokia 2 might be priced at $100, notes Gizbot. There are good chances that the affordable phone will not make its way to the West and will only sell in developing markets.
Previously leaked images of the Nokia 2 showed a handset similar to the Nokia 3, but on the edges, the phone was curved. The Nokia 2 reportedly does not have a home button; instead, there are three on-screen buttons. Further, there are physical buttons on the side for volume adjustment and power. Like other recent Nokia phones, the Nokia 2 reportedly has a rear camera and LED flash vertically aligned with the Nokia logo beneath it.
Further, there are reports that HMD Global might also be preparing to launch one more smartphone, probably the Nokia 9. According to previous reports and leaks, the Nokia 9 will supposedly come with a 3D glass back design and wireless charging technology. Further, the handset is rumored to come with an OLED display.
Similar to the Nokia 8, the next flagship might also come with a dual-lens Zeiss camera. Reports indicate that the Nokia 9 will have better lenses than the Nokia 8, which has a primary 13-megapixel color sensor, optical image stabilization and a secondary 13-megapixel monochrome sensor. The front camera of the Nokia 8 is also 13 megapixels with an aperture of f/2.0 and phase detection autofocus for selfies.
Meanwhile, HMD Global is planning to sell the Nokia 8 in the United States, according to a recent FCC filing. FCC certification is a must for any company looking to sell an electronic device in the United States. This certification has often worked as a sign of a new phone arriving. The filing reveals that HMD might launch a more powerful version of the Nokia 8 in the United States.
The Nokia 8, which has already been released in some markets, sports a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The U.S. version described in the FCC filing sports 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As of now, there is no information on when the handset will actually be launched in the U.S. or how much it will cost. The existing variant is selling for about $650.
