Huawei Mate 10’s Dual Camera Is A Direct Threat To Galaxy Note 8, iPhone 8

Updated on

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 8; the Huawei Mate 10 has been relatively safe from leaks. There have been a few small leaks here and there but nothing like we have seen from the world’s two biggest upcoming flagships. This latest news about the Huawei 10 dual camera isn’t a leak but rather marketing by Huawei.

The teaser video focuses entirely on the camera. If you were hoping for an official glimpse of the Mate 10 then, unfortunately, you will have to continue waiting. Of course, we did get the leaked renders of the Mate 10 a few weeks ago but that design is not confirmed and should be treated as a rumor for now. All that’s shown from the Mate 10 in this video is the camera assembly. It’s a quick shot mixed in with scenes showing off the abilities of the Huawei Mate 10 dual camera. You can see it for yourself below:

As you can see, a lot of the shots appear to be closeups and portraits. Clearly, Huawei wants to show off the features of the camera which was co-engineered with Leica. With Portrait Mode in the iPhone 7 Plus getting so much love, it’s not surprising we are seeing other manufacturers like Huawei and Samsung put more emphasis on their own dual camera portrait shots. Depth of field seems to be a big selling point with a lot of the shots you see in the video.

In the video we didn’t get any specs regarding the Huawei Mate 10 dual camera but some details had previously leaked that revealed what kind of camera sensors would be packed into the upcoming device. One sensor will be a 12-megapixel RGB sensor while the other is a 20-megapixel monohrome sensor – similar to what you find in the Huawei Mate 9 and P10.

The title of the video is very interesting as well. Huawei titled this teaser, ” Meet the device worth waiting for.” With the Galaxy Note 8 coming very soon and the iPhone 8 likely coming sometime next month; both will beat the Huawei Mate 10 to market. With a launch date rumored to be October 16th, Huawei is hoping that consumers can hold out after the release of the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8.

In addition to this Huawei Mate 10 dual camera teaser video, there have been some rumored specs floating around the internet regarding the device. It’s believed that the new flagship will come with a Kirin 970 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. A 4,000mAh battery will power the Mate 10. These are great specs, if true. It’s just a matter of if people can resist the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 hype to hold out for a new Huawei flagship.

What do you think? Can the Huawei Mate 10 compete with the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 this fall? They definitely have a tough challenge ahead but smartphone fans want the best specs at the best price. If Huawei can deliver a flagship device that’s at a lower retail price than other flagships then they may have a successful launch in store.
