iPad Pro 2: Cases For New 10.5-Inch and 12.9-Inch Tablets Revealed

Updated on

Today, Benjamin Geskin, took to Twitter and shared some new images of iPad Pro 2 cases. These pictures, although so far unverified, claim to show what cases Apple has in mind for its two new large tablet variants. That’s a 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch variant if you’re not up to speed. Now, if you’re wondering why these cases don’t actually look much bigger than what’s available for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro? That’s because shrinking bezels are not just reserved for the upcoming iPhone 8. The next line of Apple tablets will also benefit from it, which means a larger screen-size does not mean an overall size increase.

iPad Pro 2 Cases

As for what can be seen on these new case images, there are cutouts for a microphone, speaker grill, camera, and Lightning port. With the microphone being placed at the top of the iPad Pro 2, which is in a similar position to that of the 9.7-inch model. Furthermore, it’s also in a different place compared to the 12.9-inch model, as it’s on the right-side near to the volume controls.

Features of Note

Another feature worth pointing out in the images is the large cutout for what could be speakers. From what we can see, there are two at the top and two at the bottom, near to the lightning port. Now, some who have seen these images, are jumping to conclusions that this means the 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 must support the audio system found on the current iPhone’s. However, we prefer to reserve judgment until we know more.

What else can be seen, is expected? Some think a cutout for a lock button will make its way on to these cases. And the 3.5mm headphone jack will remain, at least for this generation that is, as will the traditional placing for the volume control. All of which points to an iPad Pro 2, which isn’t as radical as some have expected it to be. Some were hoping for changes in-line with iPhone 8 speculation; however, we think that isn’t likely. Especially, when you consider the significant resources, Apple is plowing into the next iPhones development.

Finally, one new feature on an iPad case is somewhere to tuck away the Apple Pen. How useful is it to you? Steve Jobs would have hated its inclusion, in fact, he specifically, stirred Apple away from using styluses.

iPad Pro 2 Launch Date

When it comes to a launch date, it seems that every man and his dog has an opinion. However, with no official news, it hard to tell exactly when this could happen. Yes, there is a consensus among rumor mongers that Apple’s WWDC could be the place for an announcement.

If accurate, the event could prove current theories wrong, Apple could launch a majorly redeveloped Pro 2. One that is significantly different to the model we saw announced earlier this year. If WWDC is the place for the iPad Pro 2, check it out on June 5th, find out how here.
