The company has taken to doing some early promotional work, which could see 10-lucky individuals get their hands on one early. OnePlus 5 Competition
Want a OnePlus 5, like taking part in competitions? That’s what it is going to take for you to get hold of one of these next-gen Android devices. The company is going to hold a photography competition, and it’s the winners of that which will get to own the handset early. However, there’s a catch, if you win, you could be asked to join the review team for the OnePlus 5. This team is called the Lab, and it has been created to gather information on the handsets camera performance.

Why Camera Testers?
If you’ve seen the rumored specs, and marketing for the OP 5, it’s clear the company is betting a lot on its camera. Rumors have suggested that it could be of the dual-lens variety, how accurate this is no one knows. Although, OnePlus has been boasting about its camera abilities and the fact that it has worked with DxO on it.
Just yesterday, OnePlus posted the above Tweet, which was designed to tease the image quality of the OnePlus 5 camera. Of course, the number 2, must represent the improved quality, maybe compared to the OnePlus 3T?
So, it would seem, that even though there is a certain amount of boasting/marketing going on. The company wants to be 100-percent sure of its snapper before release. And that’s where the 10-lucky winners of the handset come in.
How To Enter The Competition
To start with you must have a Twitter account, and be following the company via @oneplustech. Next, you need to pay the OnePlus Lab Team’s website a visit and fill out a form. You can do that here. Finally, an Instagram account is also required, we’re assuming this is where you will be expected to upload any images you wish to use for the competition.
As for the form, it will require you to enter, your name, email address, phone number, and home address. Additionally, by the closing date of the competition, you should have registered Instagram URLs for what you consider to be your best three photographs. Any photo’s not taken on a smartphone will be disqualified, so no cheating.
After, all of the pre-requisites have been met to take part, and instructions followed. The OnePlus team will choose the final-10, and they will receive their OnePlus 5’s shortly afterward.
Regarding the Lab, OnePlus, said on its blog:
“The Lab harnesses the power of our community to crowdsource feedback on our work. This time around, we’re asking photo enthusiasts to show us their best mobile photography in exchange for the chance to go hands-on with our next device.”
Rumored Specs and Release Date
If you know nothing of the OnePlus 5, it’s safe to say, that not many other people do either. Why? Because the company, even with all of its marketing, has managed to keep the real details close to its chest.
Having said that, what is known, is that a Snapdragon 835 chipset will be present. That’s what is powering Samsung’s Galaxy S8‘s, which means it will be no slouch. On another note, last week Peter Lau, CEO of OnePlus, kind of let slip that it could have a front-facing fingerprint sensor. However, again, this has not been confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Now, if you enter the competition, but are not one of the lucky-10, a leaked internal OnePlus email. Has shown that it’s possible the handset could launch as soon as June 15. However, this could be part of a so far never seen before marketing strategy, designed to keep the handset in the press.
