iPhone 8 May Look Like Huawei’s Latest Phone

Updated on

It’s pretty common for concept designers to come up with exciting new concepts for some of the most highly anticipated smartphones. But once in a while, Chinese smartphone vendors release devices that serve as brilliant concepts for the iPhones and Samsung’s flagship devices. Huawei has just announced its Honor Magic that may offer a glimpse into the iPhone 8.

Huawei’s device feature smart sensors

The iPhone 8 is rumored to have a curved OLED display. Huawei’s device features a 5.09-inch curved OLED screen and a 3D curved glass body. The Honor Magic features a WiseScreen sensor that allows you to unlock the device simply by looking at it. The display automatically turns off, and the screen locks when you put it down or put in your pocket.

According to Tech Radar, the Honor Magic features Hisilicon Kirin 950 processor, 64GB of built-in storage, and 4GB RAM. Huawei’s phone comes with FaceCode detection that displays lock screen notification details only to pre-registered faces. Huawei claims that you get 40% battery in just 10 minutes and 70% in 20 minutes with its fast-charging technology.

The iPhone 8 design said to be a little more innovative

The curved edges on Honor Magic reflect precisely what the iPhone 8 is rumored to look like. However, the iPhone 8 is expected to feature even more innovative features to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Apple’s iconic product. The 2017 iPhone is expected to get rid of the home button, which means the fingerprint scanner and other sensors will be embedded in the display itself.

A new report from Korea Herald indicates that the iPhone 8 display will be curved on all sides to give the device a “waterfall look.” Citing supply chain sources, the report adds that Apple has ordered plastic OLED displays rather than glass from Samsung Display. According to Phone Arena, using the plastic substrate could help the device bend. It won’t be merely a gimmick. Korea Herald adds that Apple was developing new touch options for the sides.

Galaxy S8 concept

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is another highly anticipated smartphone of 2017, and has been hot among concept designers. Folks at Concept Creator have come up with a new Galaxy S8 concept based on rumors and Samsung’s recent patent filings. The concept has done away with the home button. Just like the iPhone 8, the Galaxy S8 is rumored to have the fingerprint sensor placed under the cover display panel.

Concept Creator imagines the device with curved glass on both front and rear. The mock-up also includes an iris scanner on the top of the phone. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 in February 2017 at the Mobile World Congress. The device is rumored to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in favor of a USB-C port.
