Galaxy A7 (2017): Leaked Event Invite Suggests A Launch Soon

Updated on

Samsung’s Galaxy A7 (2017) is one of the most-awaited phones currently. Despite many leaks, there has been no information on its launch date, but now (thanks to the leak of an event invitation) we know that the launch is not far away, according to Android Headlines.

Invite leaked, but date not visible

Samsung introduced several smartphone variants this year, but it released just one model from its “Galaxy A” series. The company announced the Galaxy A9 Pro in March and released it in May. But the next-gen Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A9 and Galaxy A3 are still awaited.

Since the last-gen models landed in December, it is not all that surprising that the next-gen variants have not yet been released. According to Android Headlines, this means that probably this month we’ll get to see the 2017 variants released.

Until now, we’ve been seeing quite a few leaks for Galaxy A devices, with most related to the Galaxy A7 (2017). In September, the handset surfaced on GFXBench, and earlier this month, the FCC certified it as well. Now an alleged event invitation has just surfaced, suggesting that the Galaxy A7 (2017) will be launched soon. In the leaked image, the date has been censored, but the design of the device can be seen.

What to expect with Galaxy A7 (2017)?

The Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to be made out of metal and have a Home button below the display. The upper bezel of the device looks thick, but those on the side are quite thin. The phone’s left side is expected to have volume rocker keys, and on the right, it will likely have power/lock button keys, notes Android Headlines.

Apart from those buttons, the Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to have a 5.7-inch full-HD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is expected to run on a 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.8GHz. If GFXBench is to be believed, it will be an Exynos 7880 chip.

Both the front and rear camera are expected to be 16 megapixels, but the main snapper will reportedly come with an f/1.9 aperture. The most intriguing feature of the Galaxy A7 (2017) could be its IP68 certification, a first for the A-series phones.

From the leaked image, the device looks very similar to an enlarged S7, says Phone Arena. How close it will be to the S7 and with what price tag it will come will be revealed only in the official announcement.
