Get Ready For Hands-on Nintendo Switch Event In NYC On Jan. 13

Updated on

Nintendo’s upcoming gaming console, the Nintendo Switch, has created a lot of hype so far, and it seems the company intends to keep that momentum going in the coming year as well. Polygon claims that the company plans to host a private event in New York on January 13 to talk more about this hybrid console. Nintendo will reportedly allow attendees hands-on time with the Nintendo Switch at the event, which will run for five hours. Media will also get the opportunity to get their hands on the hardware for the first time at the event.

Nintendo to give full details in January

On January 12, the company will give a Switch Presentation in Tokyo to investors and the media. The presentation, which will be streamed worldwide, will offer additional details about the Nintendo Switch hardware and software and other launch details, including the price, region-wise release date and launch lineup, notes apptrigger.

Though no other disclosures have been made as yet regarding the New York event, Nintendo told Polygon that it “will further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce.”

The Nintendo Switch trailer aired on October 20. Since then, it has garnered more than 21 million YouTube views, making it the most-viewed YouTube video on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel. It surpassed the number of views that the official game trailer for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild got (more than 10 million views), notes apptrigger.

What we know about the Nintendo Switch so far

So far, Nintendo has just confirmed a March release window for the Nintendo Switch. A comment on the software is still pending. Nintendo has also revealed that the console will include a custom NVIDIA Tegra chip. There are reports that it will feature 4GB of RAM and a 6.2-inch, 10-point multi-touch capacitive screen.

Nintendo will confirm the price of the Switch in January, but according to wholesale prices reportedly given to international retailers, the base model will cost $250, and the version with extra internal storage and a bundled game will cost $300. The company reportedly plans to launch the Nintendo Switch with a new 3D Mario game and enhanced versions of Mario Kart 8,  Splatoon, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Just Dance 2017.

With the March launch date approaching, we can expect to see more hands-on events taking place. Many interested buyers have already pre-ordered the console, but it would be better to wait until January when Nintendo reveals the full details.
