Betting On Zero

Betting On Zero premiered in the World Doc Competition at the Tribeca Film Festival where it received a special jury mention for investigative work.  It also won the Summer Docs audience award at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

Allegations of corporate criminality, covert government influence, and coopted public servants swirl throughout this riveting docu-thriller from Darfur Now writer-director, Ted Braun.

Controversial hedge fund titan Bill Ackman is on a crusade to expose global nutritional giant Herbalife as the largest pyramid scheme in history while Herbalife execs claim Ackman is a market manipulator out to bankrupt them and make a killing off his billion dollar short.

The withering crossfire engulfs working class Latinos seeking justice, middle-Americans forging their financial future, and eventually draws federal regulators into an investigation that will affect the lives of millions around the world.

Betting On Zero weaves deception, intrigue, and greed in a surprising, deeply emotional dive into the world of money, fraud and the American Dream.

Written and Directed by Ted Braun (Darfur Now)

Produced by Academy Award winner Glen Zipper (Undefeated) and Devin Adair

The 2016 Double Exposure Festival will run October 6-8 in Washington, DC, and is a film festival and symposium that explores the burgeoning intersection between film and investigative journalism.  Double Exposure was created in 2015 by the non-profit investigative news organization 100Reporters, with lead support from the MacArthur Foundation. The film program celebrates the best new films inspired by the investigative instinct, while a concurrent symposium opens a space for filmmakers and journalists to explore common issues, and to seed new forms of inspiration and collaboration through a series of panels, master classes and workshops.
