Galaxy Note 7, Gear VR Specs And Features Leaked

Updated on

Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is just a few days away. The rumor mill has already revealed most of the details about the Galaxy Note 7. But noted tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer of French website NoWhereElse.fr has confirmed many of the rumored features and specs, while providing some new details. Hemmerstoffer also shed light on the next-gen Gear VR.

Galaxy Note 7 weights 168 grams

According to the report, the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 will sport a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with 2560×1440 resolution, a 2.3GHz octa-core processor, 64GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot, 4GB RAM, a 12-megapixel main camera with OIS and f/1.7 aperture with 4K video capabilities, and 5MP front-facing camera. The phone features a double curved-edge display.

NoWhereElse.fr adds that the phone will be powered by a 3,500mAh battery. Other features include a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor and the much-rumored iris scanner. It will be fully dustproof and waterproof with IP68 certification. The device measures 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9 mm and weighs 168 grams. The S Pen stylus too will get several improvements.

New Gear VR to be compatible with older phones

The next-gen Gear VR headset looks pretty much like the original model but is in black. Hemmerstoffer says its viewing angles have been increased from 96 degrees in the current model to 110 degrees. What’s more, the new Gear VR headset will also be compatible with the older Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge+ devices. It features a USB Type-C port and weighs 300 grams, claims NoWhereElse.fr.

Hemmerstoffer said that the Gear VR headset will go on sale in August, while the Galaxy Note 7 will be available for purchase in early September. However, a Reddit user who claims to have gotten their hand on the Note 7 claims that Samsung will start taking pre-orders for the device on August 2 and launch it on August 19. A few other reports had claimed that the device will go on sale on the same day of the announcement.
