Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. While the iPhone SE has received some criticism due to the lack of real innovation, the iPhone 7 is expected to bring exciting new features. Last year’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were slightly thicker than their predecessors, apparently due to 3D Touch display technology. But the upcoming iPhone is rumored to be ultra-thin.

Apple to increase iPhone 7 battery size

A slimmer design doesn’t mean Apple would compromise on the phone’s battery life. According to Korean publication ET News, Apple will use a “fan-out technology” to save internal space, allowing it to pack a bigger battery in a slimmer iPhone. KGI Securities analyst has learned from his sources that the iPhone 7 will be only 6mm to 6.5mm thick.

The upcoming iPhone is expected to get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack to reduce the overall thickness of the phone. According to Phone Arena, the next-gen iPhone’s battery will see a 6.5% jump in watt-hours from 6.61WHr in the iPhone 6S to 7.04WHr in the iPhone 7. The new flagship iPhone will also ditch the protruding rear camera and the antenna bands.

iPhone 7 production to begin in July

Drexel Hamilton analyst Brian White said in a research note that the iPhone 7 will enter mass production in July. It will help Apple and its suppliers to return to growth in the second half of the year. White also supported KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s report that only the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will get the dual-camera system. Apple will reportedly use LinX Imaging’s technology to bring the dual-camera system to its future iPhone.

Separately, Apple has patented a technology that would strip out the swear words in songs, replacing them with beeps or cleaner lyrics. It may be introduced as an upgrade to Apple Music or iTunes. There is no guarantee Apple will incorporate the technology in its upcoming iPhone.
