Pre-order Galaxy S7 Or S7 Edge And Get A Free Gear VR Headset

Updated on

Samsung is going to give you a very good reason to pre-order its upcoming Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. The Korean company will unveil its next-gen flagship smartphones on February 21 in Barcelona. And now folks at Android World report that Samsung will start accepting pre-orders for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge the same day. The company will be giving away a free Gear VR headset those pre-ordering the new phones between February 21 and March 10.

Gear VR to give Galaxy S7 users a more immersive experience

Samsung did tease in its Unpacked event invitation that there would be a virtual reality headset compatible with the new smartphones. Android World added that the Galaxy S7 and its dual-edge sibling will go on sale in the Netherlands on March 11. That jibes with previous rumors that the new phones would hit the stores in the US and European markets on March 11.

The Gear VR headset uses Samsung’s flagship smartphones including the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 to play VR content. The virtual reality headset uses optical lenses to focus content from compatible smartphones. VR provides a more immersive experience than watching or playing content on a flat screen. The Gear VR costs $99 if you already have a compatible Samsung device.

Galaxy S7, S7 Edge to be waterproof

Android World adds that only 32GB version of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be available in the Netherlands. But that shouldn’t be a big problem as both the phones are said to have a microSD card slot that can extend your phone’s storage by up to 128GB. The devices will be dustproof and waterproof. Earlier this week, live photos of both the phones were leaked, revealing their design.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are said to feature 4GB RAM, 12-megapixel main camera, a USB Type-C port, and Exynos 8890 or Snapdragon 820 processor depending on the country. While the S7 would come with a 5.1-inch QHD screen, the S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch display. Both phones are expected to run Android Marshmallow out of the box.
