Earlier this week, smartphone accessories maker ITSKINS leaked the design elements of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7. The leaked renders suggested that the Korean electronics giant was going to launch a 6-inch Galaxy S7 Plus alongside the standard 5.1-inch S7. Now Twitter tipster @OnLeaks aka Steve Hemmerstoffer of NoWhereElse.fr has obtained images of the Galaxy S7 Plus from his “most trusted source.”

No microSD in Galaxy S7?

OnLeaks teamed up with uSwitch to create a short video based on images from Steve Hemmerstoffer’s source and detailed blueprints that Samsung supplied to third-party accessories manufacturers ahead of launch. According to the video, the big brother of Galaxy S7 looks a lot like the Galaxy S6. Contrary to past rumors, there’s no USB Type-C port or microSD slot.

The Galaxy S7 Plus displayed in the video measures 163.32 x 82.01 x 7.82mm. Its thickness goes up to 9.05mm including the camera hump, which is more noticeable than on the Galaxy S6. The front facing camera has been moved to the right. The home button has become more rectangular, measuring 18 x 5mm on the S7 Plus compared to 16 x 6.7mm on the S6.

Will Samsung ditch Edge variant for Galaxy S7 Plus?

According to renders provided by ITSKINS, the standard Galaxy S7 measures 143.37 x 70.8 x 6.94 mm, almost identical to its predecessor. Both the S7 and S7 Plus have a similar design despite differences in size. We haven’t seen any leaked renders of the Edge variant of Galaxy S7. It’s still unclear if Samsung will retain or ditch the Edge model. Note that these are leaked images, not the official ones from Samsung.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 Plus at a special event on February 21. The device is rumored to feature a BRITECELL camera. The US and Chinese variants of Galaxy S7 and its bigger sibling will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, while rest of the world will get Galaxy S7 with Exynos 8890 processor, which recently shattered all the previous records in AnTuTu benchmark tests.
