Lockheed Martin, one of the nation’s largest government IT provider for IT security, is looking at strategic alternatives for its government IT and services segment. Basically, we’re looking at a split or spin-off.

The information systems unit Lockheed is looking to rid itself of is a $6 billion in annual revenue and 17,000 employee unit.

Basically, Lockheed is looking to capitalize on the booming cybersecurity market.

This also comes as Lockheed is buying up the helicopter company Sikorsky for $9 billion from United Technologies.
