Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Hardware Details Leaked

Updated on

Samsung is gearing up to unveil the next-gen Galaxy Note 5 at the annual IFA 2015 event in September. The device is drawing a lot of attention as its release date approaches. Now SamMobile has obtained hardware details of the Galaxy Note 5 from its reliable sources. The publication has also revealed specs of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus that is expected to succeed last year’s Galaxy Note Edge.

Galaxy Note 5 coming with 5.67-inch display

Sources told SamMobile that the Galaxy Note 5 will sport a 5.67-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, slightly smaller than the previously rumored 5.89-inch screen. It will have a display resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The publication adds that the Note 5 will be available in four color options: black, white, gold and silver. The Galaxy Note 5 will have a flat display, while the S6 Edge Plus will boast of a dual-edge screen.

Both the devices will feature glass back panel, just like the Galaxy S6. It means the upcoming phablets would lack a removable battery and a microSD slot. Samsung is adding a 4,100mAh battery in the Galaxy Note 5 to make up for the non-removable battery. The Korean company has decided to drop expandable storage in favor of its UFS 2.0 technology. SamMobile says a microSD slot is not compatible with the UFS 2.0 technology.

Galaxy Note 5 to feature Exynos 7422 processor

The Galaxy Note 5 will be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7422 all-in-one processor that combines an octa-core 64-bit CPU, RAM, GPU, storage and modem on a single chip. Both the devices are expected to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. On Tuesday, Samsung started a promotional campaign offering a rebate of $200 on the purchase of Galaxy Note 4. The promotion suggests that the Korean company wants to sell as many Note 4 units as it can before the new one arrives.

As for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, it will feature a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 16-megapixel main camera with OIS and 4K video, and 5MP front shooter. It will have 32GB of internal storage space and a 3,000mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 5 is aimed at power users, while the S6 Edge Plus will cater to mid-range buyers.
