Apple Said To Plan Apple Watch Event This Month

Updated on

Some possible topics Apple could cover in its next big event include the Apple Watch and the rumored iPad Pro

Apple could be planning to hold a special event later this month, possibly to provide more details about the features of the Apple Watch and perhaps to show off some product refreshes. French blog iGen reports that the event is scheduled for Feb. 24. That report was subsequently picked up by iDownloadBlog.

Apple could update the Apple Watch

We got our first official glimpse of the Apple Watch this past fall, but many details about the device were lacking. iGen suggests that Apple may finally be ready to release more information about the smartwatch, which the company expects to begin shipping in April.

As iDownloadBlog notes, the timing of this rumored special event makes sense because Apple has asked developers to have some of their apps for the Apple Watch ready to go by the middle of this month. Perhaps the company wants to have a wide array of apps to show off at the special event.

One question the tech community is dying to have answered is how much of a battery life the Apple Watch will have. Management skillfully dodged that question at the unveiling this past fall, suggesting that the battery life is likely just as bad as that of other smartwatches on the market and possibly even far worse. Also Apple may have been working on the battery life in an attempt to improve it before the smartwatch goes into final production.

Apple may show off the 12-inch MacBook Air

iGen also suggests that Apple might show off the 12-inch MacBook Air that’s been rumored to be in the making for quite some time. Recently KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the laptop will begin shipping in March, so it would make sense for Apple to show it off in an event later this month, according to Mac Rumors.

It’s been reported that the 12-inch MacBook Air will have an ultra-thin design that lacks fans and a redesigned trackpad. If Apple does mention the laptop at the event, then it could be a sort of side note, as it really isn’t a new product but rather just a new size for the MacBook Air.

What about the iPad Pro?

One thing that isn’t mentioned as possibly being unveiled at the event this month is the rumored 12- to 13-inch iPad Pro. Talk of this hybrid device has been going around for quite some time now, and images that purportedly show the device and its components have been making the rounds of the web.
