iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 Camera May See Major Improvements

Supposed camera improvements for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7

Of course it’s likely Apple will call the next iPhone the iPhone 6S, but that hasn’t kept some from speculating yet again that the company will skip the S iteration and name it the iPhone 7 instead. But whatever it ends up being called, it could sport a souped-up camera with dual lenses and specialized sensors.

The dual lenses will potentially offer optical zoom. G for Games suggests that the 3D pressure sensor United Daily News said is coming to the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 will bring the Force Touch technology that’s found in the Apple Watch. Currently the technology is only slated to be on the smartwatch, so if it does make the leap to the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7, it would be the first time in any Apple smartphone.

The website also reports that the new camera will also feature improvements in the aperture, which basically means it will be able to take better photos because more light will be able to reach the sensor. For comparison, the iPhone 6’s aperture is f/2.2.

Other rumors about the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7

Unsurprisingly, Apple’s supply chain also indicated that the form factor of this year’s iPhone will be similar to that of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. That would seem to suggest that the name of the next model will indeed be the iPhone 6S, as Apple typically saves the internal upgrades for the S models and overhauls the form factor with the plain numbered models like the iPhone 6.

There has been a rumor circulating that there will be an iPhone 6S Mini with a 4-inch screen, but G for Games suggests this is unlikely and that this year will have the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Interestingly, the report from United Daily News suggests that this year’s iPhone model will have 32 gigabytes as he lowest storage option. The iPhone 6 doesn’t even come with a 32-gig option, although 16 gigs is the lowest storage capacity. Some analysts have suggested that not offering a 32-gigabyte model actually helps Apple see a higher average selling price because 16 gigabytes just isn’t enough for most people anymore, so since there’s no 32-gig model, they jump up to the 64-gigabyte model.

Other possible improvements to the iPhone for this year include hardware changes that will improve the smartphone’s interaction with the Apple Watch.
