Pizza Hut Revamps Menu With Curry Crusts, Balsamic Drizzle

Updated on

In order to entice new customers and keep up with competition, Pizza Hut is revamping it’s menu choices with savory options like curry crusts and balsamic drizzle.

Pizza Hut is set to announce the exciting menu changes later on today. The company is not limiting it’s changes to the menu. The Yum Brands company also plans to unveil new uniforms for employees and an updated logo. In the last 8 quarters, Pizza Hut has seen a serious decline in sales. Rivals like Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s seen gains during the same quarter.

Pizza Hut wants to offer customers more variety

Part of Pizza Hut’s new strategy is to take a few notes from successfully eatery chains such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE:CMG), which allows people to fully customize their orders. Although the pizza giant will keep core items such as Meat Lovers and Veggie Lovers on the menu, the company will add 11 more specialty pizzas as well as Skinny Pies for calorie counters. The most significant change will be giving people the option to customize their pizzas at no extra charge.

Pizza fans can now choose from six options for base sauce including classic marinara, garlic parmesan, and honey Sriracha. There are also four drizzles to add an extra swirl of flavor including buffalo and balsamic. Last, but certainly not least, there are ten specialty flavors to add to the crust including curry and ginger.

New flavors might push the envelope

Carrie Walsh (chief marketing officer) explained during a phone interview, “Today’s consumer is always looking for new flavors. I definitely see it as more of a proactive step in pushing the category to new places.”

Pizza Hut has been around for over 50 years and it is in much need of a maker over. Walsh believes some of the new flavors will push the envelope in a good way.
