BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB)’s Passport in red and white versions could arrive in the market around Christmas, according to a report from N4BB. The Canadian manufacturer’s latest efforts in the smartphone category is paying off well, with 200,000 units sold in the first day after launch.
More color options for Passport fans
CEO John Chen was satisfied that the company was facing challenges in keeping supply of the Passport in line with demand. As of now, users can get their hands on the black Passport, with more color options coming soon. A white version of the Passport has been officially confirmed by the company, which said that the new smartphone in white will hit stores before the end of this year without providing a fixed date.
Pictures of the red BlackBerry Passport have also been in the news over the past few months. According to N4BB, the red color option of the Passport will be available for customers around Christmas. The report states that the flagship phone will be available in new variants through Amazon, where the off-contract unlocked version is priced at $599. As of now, there is no news about when the new versions will be available in other markets.
Also there have been leaked pictures of a black and gold version, but hardly any details have surfaced about that particular version.
BlackBerry Passport back in stock
In the past few years, the Canadian smartphone maker has lagged significantly behind customers in the smartphone market, but the company is not losing hope. The BlackBerry Passport was launched in September and went on sale a couple of months ago. The square-shaped phone was available online, along with in offline stores in September, but the company’s stock was soon exhausted. The company did not say anything about refilling its stock, but after the wait, it can be now purchased online at the company’s store. The price of the phone continues to be $599 unlocked.
The BlackBerry Passport sports a display screen of 4.5 inches with a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 graphics, and 3GB of RAM. The phone comes with 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,450 mAh non-removable battery. It has a three-line QWERTY keypad and touch-enabled screen.
