Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has introduced a new app for customers who want to disable iMessage. Users switching from iOS to any other platform have always complained about iMessage haunting them and their messages getting lost. The new tool released a few days ago solves all such issues.
Relief for users
When an iPhone user starts using iMessage, he/she can communicate with other iMessage users over data networks and Wi-Fi instead of using a text message on cellular networks. Apple needs to save the number of users from switching a text message into an iMessage when the user sends it. If a user is shifting from iOS to Android or Windows, then they can opt out of iMessage by switching it off. However, some customers complained that switching off iMessage does not solve their problem.
Some users went on to drag Apple into court for facing problems with the iMessage service, arguing that in many cases, their messages are not delivered at all. With the new tool, users will be able to de-register iPhones that still have their numbers saved. If the user sticks to one device for a long time, then the new tool is not of much help to them. However, for those users frequently swapping their SIM cards, the shift will now be much smoother.
Easy solution from Apple
To de-register from the books, a user just need to enter the number they wish to uncouple from Apple’s iMessage system, and then they receive a confirmation code over SMS, which then has to be typed into the browser window. There was no comment from Apple over its new tool.
Previously, the Cupertino, Calif.-based company indicated that it was in the process of releasing some sort of fix for the problem after it was sued in May. At that time, there were probabilities of a bug fix from the company, but it seems that Apple has decided to come up with a permanent solution for the problem. Much depends upon the performance of the new tool, but as of now, it looks like an apt action toward fixing the problem.
