Twitter, IBM Team Up to Help Transform Business Decisions

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) partnered to help transform how enterprises understand their customers, markets and trends.

According to the announcement of the companies, the partnership will combine data from Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) that represent the distinct public pulse and industry-leading cloud-based analytics, customer engagement platforms and consulting services of International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM).

Twitter’s partnership with IBM will focus on three areas

The partnership between Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) will focus on the following areas:

  1. The integration of Twitter data with IBM analytics services on the cloud—IBM plans to offer Twitter data as part of its select cloud-based services such as IBM Watson Analytics.
  2. New data-intensive capabilities for the enterprises— Twitter and IBM will provide a set of enterprise applications to help business improve their decision making across industries and profession.
  3. Specialized enterprise consulting—IBM Global Business Services professionals will be able to access Twitter data to enhance consulting services for clients. Twitter and IBM will collaborate in developing unique solutions for specific industries such as banking, consumer products, travel and transportation.

The partnership is expected to boost the existing enterprise data streams with the development of new solutions, which would enhance business decisions. As an example, social data integration with enterprise data could help accelerate product development by predicting long-term trends or drive real-time demand forecasting based on current situations.
