Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) launched a new advertising type – local awareness ads, which will be available to U.S. advertisers in few weeks time while it will take few months to make the said feature available on a global scale. This is yet another way of money making and if it does not get the required response from the advertisers and users, Facebook will make changes to its idea accordingly.
Cost-effective solution from Facebook
The name given to the feature by the company is self-explanatory, and has been designed to target nearby customers. The location of the users plays a prominent role, and the new customers residing in the neighborhood can be attracted by showing the ads.
The traditional methods of advertising such as newspaper or flyers are not as cost-effective as the new Facebook ads. Also, the local awareness ads help in precise targeting and have greater reach as per the claims made by the social media giant. These ads not only help businesses find the right target customers nearby, but also help the users in discovering places of interest in their area.
How to create an ad?
The ads can be created by using the Ads Create tool. The next step is selecting “Local Awareness.” After this, the user is required to choose a particular business Page that they want to promote. This feature can be accessed by the advanced advertisers in the API says Facebook. It has not yet informed when it will be available to all advertisers.
The tool automatically fills in the business address if it is listed and if not already listed on the Page then the advertiser is required to fill on its own. The tool asks the advertiser the radius around that they would want to advertise. Once the user enters the required information, the tool shows a map of the area that will be covered, and the user can then adjust the radius according to their needs and preferences.
Keeping privacy in mind, advertisers are not allowed to view the list of specific people. Also, users can opt not to share their location with the Facebook.
