3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) has not performed well over the last few quarters, leading to a drop in share price. The company is among the top 3D printing companies, and it understands the importance of keeping ahead of competitors. Therefore, the BoD has been working hard to hire experienced people with the required skill-set and expertise to efficiently run a multi-billion dollar company.
Wright to bolster manufacturing operations
On Monday, the printing company announced the hiring of Mark Wright, who will be working for the company in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer. Wright worked for 18 years at EMC Corporation.
3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) has made several acquisitions recently and needs to scale up its commercial and manufacturing operations. In order to do so, the new COO will work alongside President and CEO Avi Reichental and other senior leaders. The internal targets by the company for scaling their manufacturing would not be achieved, the company noted last week, and also gave notice that this quarter’s earnings will fall short of expectations.
“We are privileged to have an executive of Mark’s experience join our team, as we turn our attention to fine tuning and scaling our operations,” said Avi Reichental, President and Chief Executive Officer of 3D Systems.
3D Systems on a hiring spree
On Friday, 3D Systems also announced the hiring of Peter Trehan as the new Vice President of Consumer Products. Trehan had a long stint of 20 years at the Bose Corporation, where he worked in many positions, and in was managing reseller retail there until now.
At EMC, a web-based data storage and computing systems company, Wright worked as the SVP Business Development and Operations for EMC and Lenovo’s joint venture, LenovaEMC. EMC was negotiating a deal with IBM System X, and Wright was entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing and supervising the development of this relationship that amounted to multi-billion dollars. Mark has worked extensively with EMC and held crucial positions including that of the COO of their Flash product division.
On Monday, 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) shares were up 1.48% to $37.62, while year to date shares are down almost 60%.
