Apple iPhone 6 scores two major regulatory approvals in China

Updated on

Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL just won two regulatory approvals for the new iPhone 6 in China. This report comes from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

According to this report, four iPhone 6 models passed the China Compulsory Certification (also known as 3C) and obtained approval from State Radio Regulation of China. This certification program is similar to the European CE system. Both systems were designed to inspect and approve products before said products arrive on the market. The phones approved in this market include A1586, A1589, A1524, and A1593.

Apple isn’t quite out of the woods yet

Although things are looking good for Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL, the iPhone 6 still needs to obtain a key network license before it is allowed to enter the Chinese mainland market. Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL’s official Chinese website claims models A1586 and A1524 are global models, the A1589 and A1593 were designed specifically for China Mobile’s 4G Network.

In other Apple Inc. NASDAQ:AAPL related news, everyone’s eye remains focused on the iPhone 6 Plus. The phablet phone is nothing new, Apple’s top competitors already launched their versions of large phablet style phones. Fans have long anticipated for the day Apple would launch its own version of the popular gadget and now that it has, everyone is watching.

The future of phablets

According to a recent report from the New York Times, phablets may become the dominate computing device of the future. This kind of phone offers a lot of trade offs. It may be harder to do work on a smaller computer, especially as most work is done with a physical keyboard. Despite this shortcoming, phablets are more popular than laptops and desktop computers. Many people prefer to have one single device that functions as a phone, computer, and tablet rather than three separate devices. What’s more is that a large portion of the world cannot afford all three devices, it would just make more sense to combine everything into one amazing device.
