Apple Inc. iPhone 6 Plus Deliveries Pushed To November

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last week, and as expected, the new phones are already a hot commodity. They went up for preorder late last week, and consumers were grabbing them up as if they were going out of style.

Apple’s website states 3-4 weeks, but…

In their report dated Sept. 12, 2014, Cantor Fitzgerald analysts Brian White and Isabel Zhu said delivery times for the iPhone 6 Plus slipped into the Nov. 2 -27 timeframe. They said that as of 2:20 p.m. Eastern on Friday, iPhone 6 Plus deliveries had slipped into that delivery window, demonstrating strong demand and supply constraints.

If you visit Apple’s website, you may notice that most of the iPhone Plus models say they will arrive within a three to four week timeframe. However, some buyers are finding out the hard way that they may have to wait even longer.

iPhone 6 Plus carriers see delays

One commenter on Apple Insider said that AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) initially said that delivery would be in three to four weeks. However, the carrier later informed the person that their order had been moved to mid-November.

AT&T has now updated its website to reflect the November delivery timing instead of the previously posted three to four weeks. It’s unclear at this point whether people who order directly from Apple will also have their iPhone 6 Plus delivered much later than the company currently states.

Massive product cycle expected for Apple

White and Zhu said again that they expect this product cycle to be huge for Apple, not only because of the larger screened iPhone 6 models but also because of the upcoming Apple Watch. Also demand for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus is expected to be big in China, and Apple is already seeing supply constraints before launching it there.

We heard over the weekend and this morning that Apple has already seen record preorders for the two new iPhones.
