A new report claims Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may give the iPhone 6 a battery boost that exceeds customer expectations. This report comes from Sung Chang Xu, a news chief analyst for ESM-China. He believes the company will release the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 model with 2,100mAh capacity battery. His claims come from chain supply sources.
Apple could give iPhone 6 a battery upgrade
Last month brought a rumor the iPhone 6 would feature a 1,810mAh battery. This particular rumored was derived from leaked photos posted on French tech website Nowhereelse.fr.
A better battery would be welcomed by Apple fans as many complained about the battery running out of juice frequently. However, a larger battery doesn’t exactly guarantee better battery life. If recent rumors are accurate, the next generation Apple smartphone will feature a larger screen that measures 4.7 inches and an improved processor, both of which would need a larger battery to function.
High expectations for Apple
Apple’s biggest competitor Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:0059935) already dominates the phablet market with larger phones. As of yet, Apple so far has been hesitant of releasing a larger smartphone but that may change this year. The South Korean tech giant has also recently taken digs at its top rival over battery issues. A recent ad took aim at the Cupertino company claiming iPhone owners were “wall-huggers” because they are always forced to look for power outlets or stay next to walls while their phones charge.
Apple is good at keeping the details regarding anticipated gadgets under wraps and the iPhone 6 is no exception. It’s reported Apple will unveil their next phone on September 9th during a media event for the press. In the meantime, we can expect more rumors but nothing will be confirmed until it comes straight from the source. iOS 8 was already introduced two months ago during Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference.
