Acer Launches Chromebook 13 With Tegra K1 Processor, Long Battery Life

Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) announced the availability of its new Chromebook 13, a family of laptop designed for budget and performance-oriented consumers. The company is offering the device to consumers in different price points.

Among the first with Tegra K1 processor

Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) is among the first Chromebooks in the industry to use the Tegra K1 processor from NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). With the Tegra K1 processor, the Chromebook 13 offers a great graphics performance with 13-hours battery life. The device is also capable of delivering a fast multi-tasking performance.

The Chromebook 13’s battery life is 50% longer compared with the average top-selling Chromebooks available in the market. The Tegra K1 processor keeps the device cool without a fan, making Chromebook’s system completely silent.

Chromebook 13 features and pricing

Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) is offering the Chromebook 13 in two different screen resolutions—the base mode with 1366×768 pixel and 1920×1080 full HD resolution for the top-end model. According to the company, both screen resolutions are integrated with its ComfyView anti-glare coating to reduce light reflection and provides a wide range of color and contrast.

The Chromebook 13 with 1366×768 screen resolutions comes with a 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. The Chromebook 13 with full HD resolution comes in two configurations: 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of storage or 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The base price for the full HD model is $299.

Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) said the Chromebook 13 light as it only measures 0.71 inches thick and weighs 3.21 pounds. The device has a full-sized keyboard and two USB 3.0 ports full HDMI port, SD card slot and stereo speakers. It also sports a 720p HD video camera and microphone. It also comes with a Bluetooth 4.0, and it connects via WiFi.

Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) is offering the entry-level model of the Chromebook 13 for $297 during the mid-range model for $299. The high-end model costs $379. Consumers will be able to place a pre-order for the device through Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:BBY).

The Chromebook 13 will be available in the market on September.
