3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD) will announce its second quarter earnings and first six months results 2014 results on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. The company plans to hold a conference call and simultaneous webcast to discuss its financial results for the second quarter.
Impressive Q1 for 3D Systems
For the first quarter, 3D Systems posted an impressive increase of 45% in revenue, 28% organic growth and solid demand for its product portfolio. Revenue for the company came in at $147.8 million compared to estimates of $145.5 million. Net income was posted at $4.9 million, or $0.05 per share on a non adjusted basis. However, investors were not excited because the company did not revise its full year guidance.
However, much to the investors delight, the company, recently, raised the revenue guidance for 2014 recently. For full fiscal the company is now expecting the revenue to be in the range of $695 million to $735 million from the previous range of $680 million to $720 million.
Mixed view from analysts
A number of analysts have issued rating on 3D Systems recently. Analysts at Deutsche Bank reaffirmed Buy rating on the stock in a research note issued on Wednesday, June 11th 2014. The analysts, however, lowered the price target from $115 to $80. Citigroup analysts, on the contrary, downgraded the share from Buy to Hold with a price target of $50. Analysts at Gabelli also downgraded shares of the tech firm from Buy to Hold with a target price of $50.
Separately, analysts at RBC capital assigned Outperform rating to 3D Systems in their research note issued to investors on June 11th 2014, but pulling down the price target from $78 to $64. Brean Capital analysts have lowered the price target on the stock from $84 to $75 in a research note on June 6, 2014 and assigned Buy rating to the stock. Presently, 3D Systems has a consensus rating of Hold and an average price target of $69.16.
There has been an increased short interest in 3D Systems stock since the beginning of fiscal 2014 totaling to 33 million shares as of May 15, but in last two weeks of May the interest has declined totaling to 31.5 million short shares.
At 10.27 am EDT, 3D Systems shares were up 1.39% at $60.65.
