Twitter Planning ‘Share To WhatsApp’ Button To Add New Users

Updated on

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is updating its Android App and the new version will come with a button named ‘Share to WhatsApp.’ This app will allow the users to share any updates or tweets to the mobile messaging app as suggested by the name itself. Postings have been made by few of the users of the micro-blogging website, from which it can be gathered that the feature is being tested, according to a report from the Times Of India.

Still in testing phase

Limited information is available on how the new feature works. When a user click the ‘Share to WhatsApp’ button, a sharing message dialogue is opened that sends the link of the Tweet to the contact in the form of a WhatsApp message. It has not been confirmed as yet whether this new sharing feature will be available to all Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) users or if the idea is just being tested by the company at the moment.

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) already has a Share button by which bloggers can share their Tweets to WhatsApp. Once a button dedicated to sharing on WhatsApp is added to Twitter, users will be able to share their tweets without making any special effort, and at the same time will also be prompted to share the tweet with WhatsApp contacts as well. Users can also attach a message with the tweet they send to their WhatsApp contacts.

Smart move from Twitter

Adding new users to Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) can be done in many ways, and this might prove to be a successful method. There are a few other popular messaging services such as Line, WeChat and KakaoTalk, which are all quite successful in their home markets, and if Twitter makes asimilar feature for these apps, then even more users will be added to Twitter

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is not as much popular in India as WhatsApp, and the company hopes that by adding this feature it will be able to reach out to more people in countries where Twitter is not very popular. WhatsApp is used by more than 50 million people in India at present, and this is a smart move by the company to add users.

Last week, a ‘Share to WhatsApp’ button was added by Po.st, which is a social sharing website, and Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) seems to be following in their footsteps with this move.
