We have received exclusive video and images of the terrorist attack at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Pakistan.

Karachi Airport’s old terminal has been attacked by heavily armed assailants on Sunday night. Around eight to ten attackers are said to be engaged in a gun fight with security forces. Pakistan Army troops were called in to deal with the situation and troops from Malir Cantonment have been dispatched, while police commandos and Karachi Rangers are assisting.

Intermittent firing continues at the airport, while large plumes of smoke have been seen over the cargo terminal. One plane each of PIA and AirBlue, and a cargo plane of a foreign company have been damaged. A hand grenade attack was also carried out on the Isphani Hanger.

Suicide bombers are reportedly part of the terrorist squad that has infiltrated the airport.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly contacted DG Rangers Rizwan Akhtar and directed him to ensure safety of all the passengers at the airport.

According to DG ISPR Asim Bajwa, Pakistan Army troops have started reaching the airport and taking positions. In a series of tweets the DG ISPR added that proper coordination has being ensured for optimum effect and the DG Rangers was present at the airport leading the operation. He added that the operation was being supervised by Corps Commander.

DG ISPR, in his tweets, said all passengers in the planes have evacuated to safer places. He said he made a contact with Operational Commander at the airport who said terrorists had been contained in one area.
