Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) Fires Next Shot [VIDEO]

Updated on

Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) has posted a new YouTube video with highlights from the members who visited Washington D.C. on May 22. The 15 members who traveled there to speak with senators and House representatives have been with Herbalife for varying amounts of time ranging from one year and seven months up to 11 years.

Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) members report health benefits

One of the women in the video said she lost 36 pounds using Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) products and is now training for her first Spartan race. A man said using the products basically jumpstarted his household, and he saw the contents of their refrigerator change. He said they began buying more vegetables and exercising more often. He also said they got his entire family involved with Herbalife products.

The members who spoke with Congress said they believe in Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF)’s products and were happy to share with lawmakers the impact the company is making on their lives and the lives of those around them.

Job opportunities highlighted

One member said he had lost his job and was unable to find another one. He and his family were living in someone’s basement and had no money for food or bills. He said he was desperate, so he and his wife opened up a small nutrition club and started building from there.

Other Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) members in the video said they liked the independence being a distributor gave them because they were able to build their business in their own time. Several also mentioned that they liked the lifestyle being a distributor gave them. They are able to set their own hours and spend more time with their families.

Herbalife battle rages on

Perhaps unsurprising was the lack of comments Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) has been criticized for. None of those in the video provided any details about how much money they made as a distributor for the company. One of the reasons the multi-level marketing company is under investigation at multiple agencies is because of claims some distributors have made about their income.

However, activist investor Bill Ackman and his firm Pershing Square Capital Management have emphasized these types of statements and demonstrated how a very small percentage of distributors even make a living wage. In fact, Brian Holifield, whose videos about Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) can be found on YouTube, was one of those the company originally named as going to Washington to talk to Congress. He was noticeably missing from this promotional video. Also the company emphasized minorities. Herbalife has been accused of unfairly targeting minority communities, particularly Latinos.
