Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL), at its annual I/O developer conference this week, will launch the latest updates of Android and Chrome and the range of devices powered by this user interface as the foundation of a continuous user experience across devices. The competition with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) that was limited only to the phones has now extended to smart watch, living rooms and cars, says a report from Recode.net by Liz Gaines.

Google enjoys a massive reach

Both the tech giants are doing their best to convince the app developers that their platform is best to reach millions of users around the world. However, both the companies belong to different zone, believe Liz. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has built an integrated ecosystem and fitted it into hardware and software along with a curated set of applications and services that are dependent on it.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL), on the other hand, has excelled in the user interface arena by building Android and allowing the handset manufacturers to roll their own version of it. According to Gartner, Android will soon surpass one billion users in 2014. According to IDC, Android is powering 80% of the new smartphone shipments.

Apple predictive iPhone favors developers

Comparatively, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would be in a better position because the company manufactures only limited range of iPhones and even though it has compromised the market share, its smartphones are easier to operate in comparison to other OS powered devices. Thus it helps the developers to integrate services like CarPlay that behave in predictable ways, says the report.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) outpaces Apple, when it comes to integrating software on the user’s system. Also, it is a better company than Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in collecting and interpreting the online data, which makes it a better company to make a connected world more useful.

Both the tech giants, however, would find it challenging to offer their customers a smooth and integrated experience, when it comes to car. Also, car buyers will be least bothered if there mobile operating system is compatible with their new ride, according to Liz.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)(NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s theme for this year’s I/O event is to “design, develop & distribute.” One of the major focuses of the I/O is the Wednesday’s keynote at 9 a.m. In the conference, market watchers are expecting enhanced Android, a smartwatch, first Android feature in the car in addition to developments in the health arena and more.
