NASDAQ Strengthens Leadership Team; Names Adena Friedman As President

NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:NDAQ) announced the appointment of Adena Friedman as president of global corporate, information, and technology solutions as it strengthens the depth and breadth of its leadership team. The company is also improving its strategy in providing its clients with technology solutions and intelligence to explore global capital markets successfully.

Aside from hiring Friedman, the company also promoted its current executive vice president, Hans-Ole Jochumsen, to the post of president of global trading & market services.

Friedman returns to NASDAQ from Carlyle

According to NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ), Friedman will start her role and directly report to the company’s CEO, Bob Greifeld, starting June 12, 2014. She will be responsible for supervising the company’s information services, technology solutions, and corporate client group business segments.

Commenting on her appointment, Greifeld said, “We are honored and privileged to have Adena rejoin our organization. When I arrived at NASDAQ in May 2003, I was incredibly fortunate to be able to partner with someone of Adena’s abilities and ambitions. She started her career at NASDAQ and played a major role in shaping the strategy that guides many of our actions today.”

Friedman is returning to NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ) from The Carlyle Group LP (NASDAQ:CG), where she served as CFO and managing director.

“After three exciting years at The Carlyle Group LP (NASDAQ:CG), a world-class global asset management firm, I am thrilled to be back at NASDAQ OMX, working for one of the most interesting and innovative companies in financial services,” said Friedman.

She added that NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ) became an “extremely effective and diversified business,” delivering high performance under Greifeld’s leadership.

More than a decade of service

The company emphasized that Friedman was a key member of its management team for more than a decade and served in different positions, including head of the data products business and corporate strategy and CFO.

She is recognized for her contributions in the strategy and expansion of NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ) as one of the most diversified exchanges worldwide. Friedman was also a main driver in the company’s acquisition strategy.

Greifeld’s comment on Jochumsen’s promotion

With regard to the promotion of Jochumsen, Greifeld said the company recognized his ability to build and lead teams through a well-built and articulated global strategy and create growth and development opportunities for its market services team. Jochumsen successfully led the Nordic division of the company’s transaction services since 2008.

“This is a dynamic organization. I am energized by the continued opportunities on the horizon for NASDAQ OMX and look forward to the broader mandate of my new role,” said Jochumsen.
