Ross will take over Babak Parviz’s position. She will report to Sergei Brin and Astro Teller. She has previously worked for other companies including Calvin Klein, Mattel. Art.com and Gap. She also used to be a designer for contact lens company Bausch & Lomb.

She recently shared her thoughts on working for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) in a letter. She said, “I’m just getting started on Glass, but, because of all of you, and your thoughtful and smart feedback, I feel like I have an incredible head start.”

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has big visions for Glass and it is critical the company hires the right people for this particular project. Given the recent sales event in which Google Glass sold out in just one day, there are many reasons to look forward to the future of Glass. Last month, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) had a one day sale for Glass that was on a first-come first serve basis. Last year, the company also sold the new wearable device to 8,000 people during the Explorer program.

Glass goes to medical school

Google Glass sounds like it is of to a promising start. The device recently made way to medical students at University of California in Irvine. This will be the first medical school to fully incorporate Glass into the four-year curriculum plan. Students in the first two years will use this glass in their clinical skills and anatomy courses. Students in the latter two years will use the device in hospital rotations.

The wearable device could be a boon for several fields including the medical industry. Even if Glass fails to catch on with the mainstream public, there is a good chance it could become a valuable productivity-enhancing technology for a variety of businesses.
