OnePlus One Goes Official; Comes With Attractive Specs & Price

Updated on

After many leaks and game changing talk, the much-awaited smartphone from OnePlus is finally here. The smartphone is manufactured by a startup company from an ex-Oppo executive. The new smartphone, called the OnePlus One, offers some impressive hardware but it still comes in an affordable price range. You can get your hands on OnePlus One 16GB model for $299, while the 64GB model is available for $349.

OnePlus One technical specs

Coming to the technical specs, this smartphone boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) display powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, clocked at 2.5GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. It comes with a 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB or 64GB of internal storage space (no memory card), 13MP shooter on the rear and 5MP camera on the front. Apart from these, the smartphone comes with all the regular features such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.

The smartphone runs on the CyanogenMod based on Android 4.4 KitKat. This means that you won’t be able to run a stock version of Android, but in a different way, it also means that there won’t be any gigabytes of OEM and carrier bloat eating up your precious space. The CyanogenMod comes with a flat UI, and a theme manager using which you can customize many aspects of the operating system.

The smartphone looks gorgeous, and now is a great time to see something fresh and new in design. Many people are bored to see the same old design language followed by Samsung and Apple in their smartphones. It won’t be a surprise if we see people starting to compare this phone with the likes of HTC One M8, Xperia Z2 and the iPhone 5S. There is no branding on the front, which means no distraction for you.

The OnePlus One will be available in two colors, Silk White and Sandstone Black. OnePlus will also be offering interchangeable Style Swap back covers for the One, but it is not confirmed yet. A leaked image of the cover was recently posted on a Chinese site, which means that there’s a chance of such cover being released alongside the phone.

The OnePlus One will available online in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States; however, it might get released in other markets too in the future. For now, for a smartphone with $299 price tag and such impressive specs, it surely looks like a steal.
